ACTIVATE: The “A” in ABC Steps to Holistic Wellness

When it comes to holistic wellness, many people think the first step is cleansing. But true healing doesn’t begin there—it begins with activation.

Activation is the foundation. It’s the “A” in your ABCs of wellness, and it must happen on every level—mind, body, and cells—before deeper healing can take place.

So what does it really mean to activate your body?

Activating the Mind

Everything starts with your thoughts.

Think of your mind like a grassy field. A single thought walking across it won’t leave much of a mark. But repeated thoughts? They create worn paths—your neural pathways.

The more often you think a thought, the easier it becomes to return to it. Add emotion to that thought, and the pathway becomes even stronger.

So ask yourself:

  • What patterns am I reinforcing daily?

  • Are my thoughts supporting my healing—or holding me back?

Activating your mind means intentionally choosing positive, supportive thoughts. Over time, those negative pathways begin to fade, and new, empowering ones take their place.

This isn’t about perfection—it’s about daily awareness and redirection.

Activating the Body: Open the Pathways

Once your mindset is shifting, it’s time to activate the physical body—specifically your elimination channels.

Your body cannot heal or detox properly if these pathways are sluggish or blocked.

The primary elimination channels are:

  • Liver

  • Lymphatic system

  • Skin

  • Kidneys

  • Bowels

  • (For women, the menstrual cycle is also a key pathway)

Hydration Comes First

Before anything else—hydrate.

A simple guideline:

  • Drink about ½ your body weight in ounces of water daily (up to ~100 oz)

If you’ve been dehydrated, your body acts like a dry sponge. At first, water may seem to “go right through you,” increasing urination. This is normal.

With consistency, your body begins to absorb and utilize that water more effectively.

True hydration is when:

  • Your intake is steady

  • Your output stabilizes

  • Your body feels nourished—not depleted

Give your body time to get there.

Activating the Bowels

One of the most overlooked—but critical—steps in activation is bowel health.

Let’s be clear:

  • 1 bowel movement per day is not optimal

  • The goal is 2–3 movements daily, ideally after meals

If this isn’t happening, detoxification pathways are backed up, and waste can recirculate through the body.

Supporting the Gut the Right Way

Activation isn’t about forcing elimination—it’s about restoring function.

Start with:

  • Hydration

  • Nourishment (bone broth, amino acids, minerals)

  • Healing the gut lining

When the gut has been compromised, issues like permeability (“leaky gut”) can occur. That’s why simply adding fiber isn’t always enough—you must repair and rebuild first.

Once the gut lining is supported:

  1. Gently encourage movement with herbs

  2. Replenish with probiotics

  3. Restore balance to the microbiome

How to Use Probiotics Effectively

Timing matters more than most people realize.

Taking probiotics during the day means they must compete with digestion, enzymes, and stomach acid—reducing their effectiveness.

Best practice:
Take probiotics at night before bed, when the body is at rest. This gives beneficial bacteria a better chance to reach and colonize the intestines.

Start Slow

As your microbiome shifts, you may experience mild gas or bloating—this is often a “die-off” effect.

To minimize discomfort:

  • Start with 1 capsule at night

  • Gradually increase over time

  • Adjust based on how your body responds

Most people find their balance at 2–4 capsules, then scale back to a maintenance dose.

Activating Your Cells

One of the most important (and often overlooked) aspects of health today is cellular activation.

Modern science has identified the endocannabinoid system (ECS)—a system that helps regulate and connect many functions in the body.

Every cell contains receptors that act like locks, waiting for the right “key” to activate them.

Cannabinoids—both those made by your body and those from plants—help unlock these receptors, supporting balance across multiple systems.

Why This Matters

Without proper activation at the cellular level, the body may struggle to function optimally—even with good nutrition.

Plant-based cannabinoids (phyto-cannabinoids) can help support this system. These are found in small amounts in foods like:

  • Citrus fruits

  • Peppers

  • Dark chocolate

But the most concentrated source is hemp.

Choosing Quality Hemp Products

Not all products are created equal. Look for:

  • Clean farming practices (organic, chemical-free)

  • Safe extraction methods (CO₂ extraction)

  • High bioavailability (sublingual, nano-emulsified forms)

A well-sourced product should support your system—without unwanted side effects.

Activate Your Body by Being Proactive

Activation is about awareness.

Pay attention to:

  • Your digestion

  • Your hydration

  • Your energy

  • Your body’s signals

Your body is constantly communicating what it needs.

When you begin with activation—mind, body, and cells—you create the foundation for everything that follows in your wellness journey.
