Don’t Stress it, Sweat it!

 
 
 

Sweating is usually at the top of the list for either favorite activities or least favorite activities. There are those people who work out five times a week and go into the sauna or hot tub as often as they can. And then there are those who prefer to stay dry unless we are taking a shower. Wherever you fall on this spectrum, it is crucial to know that sweating is an important detoxifying function of the body. Through the elimination channel of our sweat, our bodies let go of toxins and excess heat while also aiding in weight-loss and moisturizing our skin. 

Yoni Steaming can be a gentle way to encourage sweating in your life in a way that you can control your comfort level.

Inherently, the heated herbs below you will cause your pelvic floor, abdomen, and thighs to heat and sweat. Traditionally, women would always steam wrapped in a cloak of thick fabric to encourage sweating throughout the rest of the body. This cloak would be around their neck, surround their body, and cover their feet along with the steaming pot of herbs. Cloaks allow your whole body temperature to increase encouraging sweating throughout your whole body and adding to the detoxifying process of steaming.Though we may not have access to a traditional “cloak”, a thick and breathable fabric such as a blanket or thick sheet will work perfectly. 

For some people, cloaking while steaming can be very enjoyable and relaxing. Perhaps taking a warm shower afterwards and going directly to a warm bed to extend the relaxing heat. For others, cloaking can cause excessive heat that the body may not be ready for. In these cases, there are several options to adjust your comfort level. Using a lighter fabric such as a sheet or a smaller piece of fabric such as a towel can add more breathability. Perhaps allowing your arms to be outside of the wrap, or exposing your legs. 

For women who are prone to hot flashes or night sweats or live in an extremely hot climate but still want the benefits of steaming, using a towel, a robe, summer dress, or if you have the privacy steaming naked! It’s amazing how encouraging sweating with proper herbal support can help to bring hormones into balance and soothe cramps, ease bleeding, and more.
